SUNNY LUWE ADDS HER SOUL-INFUSED POP TO THE GCMA LIVE ACT LINE UP

The Gold Coast Music Awards (GCMAs), celebrating a milestone 10th anniversary, announce proud First Nations (Wailwan) woman, Sunny Luwe will join the line up of incredible artists performing at the prestigious event held at HOTA, Home of the Arts, on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

Sunny Luwe joins the 2023 People’s Choice and GC Music Prize winner, Lyric, along with the soulful Felicity Lawless, and the raw rock fury of Black Vatican Death Squad at the star-studded Red Carpet Gala Awards Ceremony and Live Concert.

Meet the Live Acts:

Sunny Luwe: Good times and sunshine – Sunny Luwe fuses the classic feel of the 70s with catchy pop music of the 90s to create a feel-good fun time. Melding the genres of pop, soul, rock, blues and funk, Sunny’s vocals are captivating and dynamic, with stellar songwriting to boot. A proud First Nations (Wailwan) woman and Goldy local, songstress Sunny Luwe has gone from strength-to-strength last year, releasing her first album, Flowers in the Sky with a SOLD OUT launch show at Dust Temple and a Queensland Music Awards finalist nomination.

Lyric: A 20-year-old singer/songwriter and producer from the Gold Coast, Lyric has taken the music scene by storm with her honest songwriting and emotive music. Her debut EP, ‘every colour, every hue’, released in March 2023, has already surpassed 230K streams. With her TikTok-viral singles ‘Wine Stain’ and ‘Gravity’ garnering 100k and 270k streams respectively, Lyric has proven her knack for connecting deeply with her audience. Industry accolades include radio play on triple j Unearthed and high-profile performances, including supporting local megastar Mallrat.

Felicity Lawless: Known for her soul-elevating music that blends world, rock, and folk elements, Felicity Lawless will captivate the audience with her dynamic performances. Collaborating with Tijuana Cartel guitarist Black Rabbit George, her project has sold out theatres and concert venues across Australia. With five independently released albums, including the 2022 collaboration ‘Symbiosis’ with Paul George, Felicity continues to push the boundaries of musical expression.

Black Vatican Death Squad: From the depths of the Gold Coast emerges Black Vatican Death Squad, unleashing a raw, unapologetic onslaught of rock ‘n’ roll fury. Fronted by the formidable Diklich, whose gravelly vocals and thundering basslines command attention, and propelled by Tommy Creeper’s relentless drumming, the band’s sound is a force to be reckoned with and is carving out a reputation as a formidable presence in the Australian music scene. Brace yourself for their electrifying performances and prepare to be swept away by their unyielding charisma.
