SPOTLIGHT ON THE ARTISTS: BLEACH* FESTIVAL LIVE MUSIC STAGE WEEKEND TWO

The Live Music Stage at BLEACH* Festival returns this weekend, promising another round of stellar performances from August 9-11. 

Guaranteed to once again draw crowds to the Love Your Local North Burleigh Hub, this weekend is packed with an impressive lineup spotlighting some of the Gold Coast’s best talent, curated by the Gold Coast Music Network.

From Friday through Sunday, be sure to check out the diverse line-up of genres with back-to-back sets from emerging artists alongside 2024 Gold Coast Music Awards (GCMA) finalists including Lyric, Eimhin and Cold Ghost, and catch a preview of these top local artists ahead of the Awards on Thursday 29 August. 

On Saturday afternoon, don’t miss the GCMA x Burleigh Brewing People’s Choice launch event from 12pm. We’ll be opening up public voting for the People’s Choice Award, proudly sponsored by Burleigh Brewing, so you can cast your vote for your favourite band, artist or creative in-person, meet some of the 2024 GCMA finalists, and enjoy FREE live music from past People’s Choice winners and GCMA finalists.

MEET THE ARTISTS HITTING THE STAGE THIS WEEKEND:

 

FRIDAY 9 AUGUST
Eleea

Set Time: 4PM – 5PM
Genre: Indie Pop

Award winning singer-songwriter, Eleea, is a modern day storyteller making music that juxtaposes sensitivity and strength. Known for her captivating lyrics and enchanting melodies, Eleea brings relatable themes to life through her music, making her a must-watch act for fans of heartfelt pop.

 

Arianna

Set Times: 5:15PM – 6PM & 6:30PM – 6:50PM

Genre: Folk

Arianna is a Gold Coast folk musician known for her soulful voice and heartfelt acoustic performances. Often seen busking around the city, her intimate style creates a warm atmosphere and draws listeners in. Expect a mix of original songs and well-loved folk classics during her sets.

 

Yugambeh Choir

Set Time: 7:10PM – 7:30PM

Genre: Choral

The Yugambeh Choir is a collective of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders dedicated to preserving and celebrating the cultural heritage of the Yugambeh people through song. Their performances offer a powerful and emotive journey through traditional and contemporary Indigenous music, showcasing the beauty and strength of their ancestral language. The choir’s unique sound is both haunting and uplifting, delivering a profound cultural experience for audiences.

 

Birren

Set Time: 8PM – 9PM

Genre: Roots

Birren is a Gudjingburra artist seamlessly blending storytelling with vibrant beats. His ocean-inspired rhythms are rooted in his childhood of surfing and fishing in his coastal home of Booningbah (Fingal Head) in Northern NSW. Birren’s soothing voice and his rootsy sound takes audiences on a journey of discovery and reflection, allowing plenty of time to dance and enjoy the groove.

 

SATURDAY 10 AUGUST

Lyric 

Set Time: 12PM – 12:30PM

Genre: Pop

Lyric is a young, up-and-coming singer/songwriter and producer from the Gold Coast, who entrances audiences with her relatable lyricism and production quality. A finalist in three categories for the 2024 GCMAs, Lyric took out the 2023 Gold Coast Music Prize – a career-defining prize awarded to one artist under 25 – as well as the People’s Choice Award. 

 

Eimhin

Set Time: 12:45PM – 1:30PM

Genre: Indie

Yugambeh-based artist, Eimhin (pronounced Ev-an), is an Irish singer-songwriter dedicated to creating vulnerable, wholehearted music that explores themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. A 2024 GCMA finalist for Release and Video of the Year, Eimhin’s captivating acoustic sound blends indie and folk influences, delivering powerful storytelling through his heartfelt lyrics.

 

GCMA People’s Choice Live Launch

Time: 1:30PM

Voting for the 2024 Gold Coast Music Awards People’s Choice Award will open at 12pm on Saturday 10 August. Join us from 12pm with 2023 People’s Choice winner LYRIC and GCMA finalist EIMHIN hitting the stage before the People’s Choice launch at 1.30pm, with GCMA finalists, judges and partners in attendance.

Elska

Set Time: 2PM – 2:45PM

Genre: Pop

Known for her vibrant performances and playful sound, Elska, is a Brisbane pop artist with serious flare! Her music is described as swirling together the spirit of ‘70s disco and ’80s synths. Winner of the GCMA People’s Choice Award in 2019, her set promises to be an electrifying blend of fun and nostalgia that will have you dancing and grooving.

 

Cold Ghost

Set Time: 3:15PM – 5PM

Genre: Alternative

Cold Ghost is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and sound designer by the name of Fletcher Babb. Fletcher explores songwriting as a vehicle for stories, both real and imagined, and uses post-production as an extension of instrumentation. As a finalist in the GCMA’s Release of the Year category, Cold Ghost is a stand out act, set to captivate your Saturday afternoon.

 

NXT

Set Time: 6:15PM – 7PM

Genre: RnB

Having started out as a dance crew, NXT is an RnB collective bringing a fresh and vibrant sound to the stage. Originating from Brisbane, Justice, Kaitai, Keithyn, and Raff, have spent years perfecting their craft, performing alongside platinum Australian artists. NXT’s performances are known for their high-energy choreography, engaging stage presence, and blend of smooth vocals and catchy beats.

 

HaydenGoSeek

Set Time: 8PM – 9PM

Genre: Mixed genre 

HaydenGoSeek is a Gold Coast local, originally from a small town in New Zealand. A solo musician, singer and songwriter, he also fronts the powerhouse seven-piece band Cheap Fakes. HaydenGoSeek is a bit of a chameleon with a unique knack for mixing genres. His music is an exhilarating blend of reggae, rock, soul, funk, and country sounds, made complete with captivating compositions and a blend of mesmerising self-accompanied vocals. 

 

SUNDAY 11 AUGUST

Rhea Robertson

Set Time: 12PM – 1PM

Genre: Indie-Pop

Rhea is a singer songwriter whose soulful voice and evocative tunes leave audiences spellbound. Floating between alternative dark and dreamy pop, or chill lo-fi with sultry jazzy undertones, Rhea’s versatile sound captures the hearts of audiences, making her a must-see act at the BLEACH* Live Music Stage. 

 

Jake Whittaker

Set Time: 1:15PM – 2:15PM

Genre: Country

Jake Whittaker is an emerging force in the country music scene, with powerful vocals and epic guitar work. Jake was a top 10 finalist in the 2023 ‘Toyota Starmaker’, Australia’s largest country music talent search. His music intertwines country influences with a contemporary flair that’s uniquely his own, and his Sunday set is sure to set the mood for a laid-back afternoon at the Live Music Stage. 

 

Lily Papas

Set Time: 2:30PM – 3:30PM

Genre: Indie-Pop

Lily Papas is a Gold Coast singer-songwriter whose musical journey is a harmonious blend of eclectic genres, poetic storytelling, and a uniquely enchanting vocal tone. Her music delves into themes of love, loss, self-discovery, and the human experience, weaving together deeply personal experiences and raw, relatable emotions. The result is an intimate tapestry that fosters a profound connection with her audience.

 

The Brain Electric

Set Time: 4PM – 5PM

Genre: Funk/Jazz

Headed by Gold Coast producer Matty Gray, The Brain Electric is a six-piece band from South East Queensland with a passion for creating genre-defying music. With influences from funk to house, jazz to hiphop, it’s a little hard to put these guys into a box. Their sound is a mix of funk and jazz that will get you moving and thinking. The Brain Electric continues to explore new sonic territories, ensuring that every performance is an unpredictable and exciting experience.

 

Blackline Band

Set Time: 5:30PM – 8:30PM

Genre: Mixed Genre

Blackline Band was founded in Fingal Head, just south of the Gold Coast, by two brothers. Their live performances captivate audiences with high-energy antics and improvisational jams that keep the crowd moving all night long. Together as a seven-piece with their friends, they bring a blend of electrifying rhythms, soulful melodies, and infectious grooves wherever they go, making them a perfect closer for the BLEACH* Live Music Stage!
