Nominations extended for the 2024 Gold Coast Music Awards

The Gold Coast’s premier music industry event, the Gold Coast Music Awards, will celebrate its 10th year in 2024, and nominations are now open for the chance to take home a coveted Skull Murphy trophy at this year’s Awards. 

Nominations for the 2024 Gold Coast Music Awards have been extended! Gold Coasters can now submit their nominations until 5pm on Monday 6 May, 2024. 

Following a record-breaking year in 2023, with more than 900 nominations across 10 categories (up from 700 in 2022) and a sell-out event, the 2024 Gold Coast Music Awards is set to be the biggest year yet.

Nominations open today across 10 categories, welcoming nominations from artists, musicians, creatives, venues and more.

The 2024 Gold Coast Music Awards categories are:

  • Artist of the year
  • Breakout Artist of the year
  • Live Act of the year
  • Musician (instrumentalist/vocalist) of the year
  • Release (album/EP) of the year
  • Song of the year
  • Studio Producer of the year
  • Venue of the year
  • Video of the year
  • Visual Creative of the year

Additionally, all nominees under 25 are eligible for the career-boosting Gold Coast Music Prize (decided by the judging panel), and all finalists will be eligible for the People’s Choice Award, voted on the by the audience at the 2024 Gold Coast Music Awards.

To be eligible, nominees must have released, performed or been active in their category of choice between 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2024, and must demonstrate they have a strong connection to the Gold Coast.

Nominations are only accepted from an artist, band, creative or venue (the nominee themselves) or a person representing them such as a manager, publicist or agent of some kind.

Nominations have been extended and will now close on Monday 6 May, 5pm. Finalists will be announced in late July ahead of the 2024 Gold Coast Music Awards on Thursday 29 August at HOTA, Home of the Arts.

NOMINATION ASSISTANCE SESSIONS

Are you a band, artist, venue or creative planning to nominate for the 2024 Gold Coast Music Awards? GCMA’s Kirsty Abrahams is hosting two online drop-in sessions to help answer questions and assist with 2024 nominations.

Regardless of the award category you’re nominating for, these drop-in sessions are available for nominees to ask questions, understand and answer nomination criteria, get insights into what judges are looking for, and utilise our team’s knowledge to submit the best possible nomination you can.

Join us on Thursday 2 May, 1pm-2pm or Friday 3 May, 2pm-3pm via Google Meets. Drop in anytime during the session to chat with GCMA Chair Samantha Morris.
